
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 to May 7 2010, 2010) was an American actor, singer and dancer who appeared in films in the 1940s, 1950s and on television during the 1950s, 1960s, and later on. With the professional name Adele St. Mara, she won a contract with Columbia Pictures [citation required] and began to work working in the studio's "B" features and comedy shorts. Then, she was changed to Adele Mara. One of her early roles was as a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks plays Alias Boston Blackie (1942) in the role of the sister of a wrongfully accused and escaped convict. The film was released by Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was terminated. The studio specialized in westerns and outdoor adventures. She was an integral part of Don Siegel's Count the Hours and The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch.
