Ruth Roman, 75, who was known by her unique combination of pure sexiness, beauty and fame in the 1940s and 1950s in Hollywood, passed away on Thursday at her Laguna Beach, Calif. house. Her death was in her sleep, according to her son, Richard Hall. After her breakout role opposite Kirk Douglas in Stanley Kramer's ''Champion,'' the 1949 version of a Ring Lardner story that revolves around an insane prize-fighter, Warner Brothers gave her leading roles in nine films in just two months. One day, she jumped from collaborating with Bette Davis in "Beyond the Forest'', to appearing alongside Milton Berle in ''Always Leave Them Laughing.''
